Hatteras Island Art Scene

Rock the Cape was started in 2012 as an initiative to celebrate the galleries, artists, and artistic community on Hatteras Island. The annual event is held at the beginning of summer as a way to kick off the busy season on the island.

Art is everywhere on Hatteras Island. The area has been a home and an inspiration to generations of artists for over a hundred years. Peek around the galleries, shops and shows of this creative island paradise – their beautiful work secures the island’s place as a national arts destination.

The dynamic and thriving community of artists here on the island has fostered the growth of galleries, restaurants, live performances and art events that make our area an exciting destination for creativity-seeking travelers.
